Within our Microwave Components business line, we design, develop, and test customer-specific microwave components from 10 to 100 GHz. We are especially experts in the development of ferrite-based components with demanding specifications; switches, circulators, and isolators. Some of our reference projects are presented below.
In the “High-Performance Calibration Switch for Millimetre-Waves” R&D project, Harp Technologies developed Single–Pole, Triple-Throw switches for the W-band (89 GHz). Using ferrite switch technology, a very low loss could be achieved – even below 1 dB over the 4-GHz band (at room temperature). Two different design variants have been developed, one using the fundamental operation mode of the ferrite junction and one using higher-order modes. The proper function of both variants has been successfully demonstrated. The project was funded by the European Space Agency (ESA).
In the “W-band Waveguide Switch” R&D project, Harp Technologies is currently developing an Engineering Model (EM) of a waveguide switch for the W-band (83 GHz). Using internal latching ferrite switch technology, low loss and small size can be achieved. The performance of the switch and the endurance for the environmental requirements will be demonstrated in a test campaign. The project is funded by the European Space Agency (ESA).
In the “New Concepts of High Power Ku-band Isolators” R&D project, Harp Technologies developed ferrite circulator designs for isolator use in future Earth observation satellite missions. Waveguide Y-junction and Differential Phase Shifter (DPS) – designs were developed for 13.5 GHz centre frequency with very low losses (0.1 dB) and high port-to-port isolation (30 dB). The Y-junction circulator was also verified to be very stable over temperature and capable of handling peak power levels of 5 kW and above in vacuum. The project was funded by the European Space Agency (ESA).
